Internet Marketing Toolbox: iWebTool

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

iWebTools is another collection of SEO tools: search engine position checker, a backlink checker, spider simulator, etc

But what it also has are 2 unusual tools: a Page Rank prediction tool, and a Visual PageRank checker.

Today I asked it to predict the page rank for my Internet marketing in Nottingham website, and it predicts my PR will increase from 4 to 5. I searched for an explanation of how it came up with this prediction, but I couldn’t find out how it came up with this (good) news.

Hope it’s right in it’s prediction – I’ll keep you posted.

Doodle 4 Google

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

I really enjoy the playful logos on Google, changing to celebrate special events or holidays.

These designs are called “Doodles” and children in the UK are being given the opportunity to design a Google Doodle.

The ‘Doodle 4 Google – My Britain’ competition asks young people across the UK to design a doodle that represents what it means to be British today. The winning doodle, which will be displayed on the Google UK homepage for a day, will be seen by around 18 million people.

… and please be sure to share this information with your local schools.

The changing face of Google

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

Google are experimenting with a new user interface… take a look.

This is a version of an interface that Google might be testing at the moment; let me know what you think.

If you want to try the new interface yourself, go to Google.co.uk in your browser and paste the following the following text into your address bar, (press Enter), and then search google.co.uk as normal:

javascript:alert (document.cookie= “PREF=ID=fb7740f107311e46:TM=1142683332:LM=1142683332:S=fNSw6ljXTzvL3dWu; path=/; domain=.google.co.uk”)

A part of Google’s success is the simplicity of it’s interface. If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Google dominates UK searching

Sunday, April 9th, 2006

We all love Google, but I didn’t realise just how much. Google dominates the UK search market, generating nearly three out of four (74%) of all UK search referrals

WebSideStory’s research for the month of February 2006 shows Google’s nearest competitor is Yahoo with just 9.3% and MSN lagging behind with 5.4%

I’m whistling a different tune when it comes to SEO in the UK: I love Google, you love Google, and clearly the UK market loves Google, so let that guide your SEO strategy.
